But no matter how many holidays there is out there, Christmas always make top of the list when it comes to having the greatest holiday hits of all time. 1. Dary Hall & John Oates – Jingle Bell Rock (1983)
In 1957, American singer Bobby Helms recorded the best-known version of this classic Christmas hit. But it was released as a single in the early 80’s with a can’t-miss music video by Hall & Oates.
2. Wham – Last Christmas (1984)
Pop group Wham!, formed by George Michal and Andre Ridgeley, release this greatest Christmas song of all time in 1984, but didn’t rise to the top of the charts until the passing of Michael in 2017, despite inspiring lots of different cover versions over the years.
3. Mariah Carey – All I Want for Christmas Is You (1994)
Mariah Carey is known for releasing many hits for the festive season, but this pop song that always puts you in the christmas spirit is her most iconic hit ever made. Thi song was so enduring, in fact, it reched No. 1 on the Billboard charts at the end of 2011, which makes it 27 years after it was released.
4. Brenda Lee – Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (1958)
Brenda Lee was born with so much talent that at the age of 13 she was already recording great songs, including the one above which is the biggest hit to ever be recorded for the most wonderful time of the year. She probably never imagined it would be this huge to the point it gets played every Christmas.
5. Frank Sinatra – Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (1948)
With a tittle such as ‘let it snow’ it’s not that difficult to figure out the song is about the cold winter weather some of us like and some of us don’t. Frank Sinatra did an amazing job recording this jazzy holiday song. Although it wasn’t included on his original Christmas album, it was featured on the update compilation album.
6. Ella Fitzgerald – Jingle Bells (1960)
No matter what mood you’re in, Ella Fitzgerald knows exactly how to make your holiday merry and bright this her classic christmas hits. Released in 1960, Jingle Bells is everyone’s favourite holiday song. According to the smithsonian, A harmonica version of this was the first song ever heard outer space.
7. Chuck Berry – Run, Rudolph, Run (1958)
Whenever your in the mood for a Christmas tune with some rock and roll involve, Chuck Berry is the man you need. Nobody perform this hit better than Berry does, with a unique voice that always get you in a mood to dance and celebrate.
8. Johnny Mathis – Sleigh Ride (1958)
As a fan you probably know a lot about Johnny Mathis including the lyrics to his song but did you know that this Mathis pop song is from his first Christmas album ever and released six in total throughout his career.
9. John Williams – Somewhere in My Memory (1990)
This Christmas classic was made mainly for the original Home Alone movie. It was composed by John Williams with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and was won an academy award for Best original song (it lost out to Stephen Sondheim’s “Sooner or Later” from Dick Tracy).
10. Bruce Springsteen – Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town (1985)
If you haven’t had the change to add this song to your Christmas to-do list, i suggest making some time and give this Bruce Springsteen a listen, and you’ll see why he is referred to as “The Boss.” It’s the most energetic performance of this Classic tune out there.
