Blink-182 Fans Shocked to Learn They’ve Been Saying the Band’s Name Wrong for Decades

For nearly 30 years, fans of pop-punk legends Blink-182 have been passionately debating how to say the band’s name. Some insist it’s Blink-One-Eighty-Two, while others argue for Blink-One-Eight-Two. But now, thanks to a surprising revelation from lead singer Tom DeLonge, it turns out that almost everyone has been getting it wrong.

The Great Blink-182 Pronunciation Debate

Since their rise to fame in the late 90s with their breakout album Enema of the State, Blink-182 has been a staple of pop-punk culture. With massive hits like All The Small Things and What’s My Age Again?, the band comprised of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker has remained one of the most beloved groups in rock history.

However, despite their mainstream success and dedicated fanbase, one mystery has persisted: how do you really say Blink-182?

The debate gained traction in 2018 when English comedian James Corden chimed in on social media. Addressing the ongoing confusion, Corden joked, Don’t start this. I admit we are wrong on this. America calls them Blink-One-Eighty-Two. Which is also wrong. They technically should be called Blink-One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Two.

Tom DeLonge Drops the Truth Bomb

Corden’s comment reignited the debate, prompting none other than Tom DeLonge himself to set the record straight. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Blink-182 frontman responded with a revelation that floored fans:

It’s actually Blink eighteen-two. People have all gotten this wrong for years. Sometimes this can happen with very complex, thoughtful, and elevated art.

And just like that, the internet lost its mind.

Fans Refuse to Accept Reality

Many Blink-182 supporters were unwilling to believe DeLonge’s claim. Some thought he was joking, while others flat-out refused to change their ways.

No no no it’s Blink One-Eight-Two. You are wrong.

Is he trolling or nah?

Come on now. You can’t do that to me after all these years.

Even after hearing the official pronunciation from the band’s own singer, many fans remain loyal to their own version.

Does It Even Matter?

At the end of the day, whether you say Blink-One-Eighty-Two or Blink-Eighteen-Two, the band’s legacy remains untouched. With a devoted fanbase, legendary albums, and a career spanning decades, Blink-182’s impact on music is undeniable.

No matter how you pronounce their name, one thing is certain: their music will continue to bring generations of fans together, filling stadiums and igniting nostalgia for years to come.
