It was revealed on Wednesday that Woods and Manning will work together as a team for “super team” of sorts at the Memorial’s pro-am day at a Golf Club known as Jack Nicklau’s Muirfield Village on Wednesday, May 30, in Dublin, Ohio. This event will occur from May 31 to June 3.
The two athletes are known to be a powerful team when they come together, as this will not be the first time woods and manning have paired up as a team, back in 2009, they both participated in the pro-am the Quail Hollow Championship and also took part in the 2005 pro-am event at Bay Hill.
It’s almost been a decade since woods and manning joined together, which is a good thing, due to the fact that allegedly things can get a bit out of hand every time they both play as a team. As woods stated after their round back in 2009 that he and manning trash-talked the whole round.
Despite all the trash-talking, both players are very good friends and it seems that working together with manning was all woods idea. Following Manning retirement back in March 2016, a tweet was released from woods stating that it’s a good thing that Manning retire so they could both play more golf in the future.
It’s safe to say that woods will be expected to perform better than his last Memorial experience. Tiger has been out of the game for a while, as he hasn’t participated in the tournament since 2015, when he finished in last place. Woods, he’s also known for his success at Muirfiled Village, after winning the tournament five times.
Of course, six years have passed since Tiger was last announced as a winner of the tournament, but the fan wouldn’t be surprised if his name was displayed on the leaderboard over the course of the four-day tournament. Woods will be going to Ohio on somewhat of a roll: after shooting a magnificent 11-under, Woods finished 11th at The Players Championship. That total involved a seven-under 65 on day 3, being the greatest round up to this time.
