When Christmas is just around the corner, decorations showing on almost every street you walk past, turkeys and mince pies prepared,
the basis of the festive season is the warm memories that always remind us of family and friends.
We crave the fun antics of taking a quick trip to the store for last-minute shopping and frequent funny moments that happens every time a movie actor do a foolish act. We have gathered several of the best Christmas movie moments on this list.
1. Jingle All the Way
Throughout the Christmas family comedy film Jingle All the Way (1996), starring actor Arnold Schwarzenegger as Howard Langston, who rings home and expecting his wife to be on the call but he is shocked when hears his neighbour Ted (Phil Hartman) picks up the phone in the kitchen.
Langston becomes very concern over the fact that his neighbour Ted is left alone in the kitchen with his wife which pushes Langston to get very protective over his wife’s baked wares, those irresistible cookies. As Ted eats the cookies while on the phone to Langston and comments on how tasty it is “oh this cookies, i got to get the recipe from Liz” which Langston didn’t seem happy about and would scream over the phone “put that cookie down, now!” which comes as a comedic and very quotable moment.
2. Bad Santa
There’s no better feeling than settling down on Christmas Eve some delicious festive food and putting on a comedy classic film like Bad Santa (2003). Starring Billy Bob Thornton as willy, who is a miserable conman and his partner Marcus (Tony Cox) pose as Santa and his little helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve.
The conman runs into a bit of issue when they befriends a trouble kid. Although the most parts of the movie seemed like the conman was uncomfortable around the kid, on of the most touching scenes comes when Willy gives the kid a letter to hand over to the cops and sticks up for the kid after a bully gave him a black eyed and that’s when Willy goes over to the bully and starts beating him up which may seemed a little a little uncomfortable to some viewers seeing a grown man beats a kid but it obvious that Willy was just trying to help out the kid.
3. Elf
Starring comedian Will Ferrell, this comedy film tells us the story of Buddy the elf who was accidentally taken to the North Pole as a toddler when he sneaked in Santa’s present sack and would then be raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves.
As he got older and wondering why he doesn’t fit in, the answers to his questions would lead to travel to New York City in full elf uniform to locate his biological father (Walter Hobbs) whereabouts. The movie is filled with many hilarious scenes, but when many of us think about this movie, the scene that always pop back into our mind is when buddy was assaulted by Hobbs business partner Miles Finch.
In this scene, we see Finch in a meeting with Hobbs and other workers when buddy comes in and interrupt the meeting. After noticing the height of Finch which reminded him of the elves at the North Pole, he repeatedly referred to him as an elf in which Finch really didn’t like and after giving many warnings to not use the term elf, Finch would than attack buddy in front of everyone in the room.
4. Home Alone
We can all agree that this classic Christmas film hit the right spot every time it’s watched. With many prominent moments included, it definitely the type of movie’s that makes a kid fantasy of being left alone to their devices a reality. Halfway into the movie, we come to see two burglars Harry and Marv are spying on Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin) who is home alone after his family forget to take him with them on a family trip to Paris, France.
During one interesting scene, Marv tries to break into the McCallister’s place of residence and this would frightens Kevin to the point where he decides to make use of a dialogue of the movie “Angels with Filthy Souls” where the main character known as Johnny says “Keep the change, you filthy animal.” This line alone is most likely quotable and memorable moments in the movie.
5. The Santa Clause
Nobody does it like Tim Allen when it comes to comedy, whether it is his grunt, or his cat fighting sound, his funny jokes, it must be said that the Santa Clause makes the top of the list on the most funniest Christmas movies of all time.
One of the best and hilarious moments in the movie is when Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) is being questioned by the police, who has doubt that he is the real Santa Clause. Scoot would than mention other names Santa Clause can be referred as, with some funny addition in there, like “Topo Gigio,” who was a character in an old TV show known as Ed Sullivan show and also known as Louie Mouse. Scott went even as far as naming Santa in French “Pere Noel.”
6. The Polar Express
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, this is the festive story of The Polar Express (2004), taken straight out of the pages of the original book and brought to life. How can you not love this masterpiece when the story is based on Christmas and you have Tom Hanks and Zemeckis working on one project.
Hanks did a brilliant job in this magical epic, by taking on the role of many different faces and we also see a young boy (who the film only named Hero in the credits) desperate to know the truth about Santa existence. The movie is filled with many greats scenes that stands out, mainly the Hot Chocolate scene, for example.
But none of those scene come close to the emotional moment of wonderful symbolism, though, when Santa elves comes in one place waiting for him, and the young Boy who is desperate to hear the silver bell ring but doesn’t hear a sound because he does not believe in Santa. The bell would then jingles after he start believing and Santa would appears in its reflection.
7. The Muppet Christmas Carol
A magical Muppet movie, directed by Brian Henson, the son of the great puppeteer actor Jim Henson, The Muppet Christmas Carol was released in 1992. If you are not familiar with the novella ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dicken’s, than you should know that this movie is based on Dicken’s novella story, but told from a Muppet narrator’s perspective, Gonzo (Dave Goelz) and his partner Rizzo the Rat (Steve Whitmire) as they fail to notice Scrooge’s (Michael Caine) life.
There are several memorable scenes in the movie which makes it difficult to pick which is the best scene, but i think we can all agree that the amazing “Come in and know me better, man” is one of the best scenes along with the scene regarding Tiny Tim towards the end which sends us into floods of tears and emotion. We learn about his disability, sometime after which comes a heart-wrenching moment that we will not reveal to not spoil it for you just in case you haven’t watched the movie yet. This scene bring tears to the viewers eyes every time and reminds us why it is important to always cherish our friends and family every day.
